Why Give?

RadGeekery is a unique after-school program that teaches students in the 4th-8th grades how to make RAD short films. Donating to this cause help with the cost of bringing such a unique program to more schools.

Why is our Program so Unique?

The RadGeekery program uses professional grade film equipment to make rad films. This equipment adds up to what RadGeekery calls, “The Cart.”

One instructor and one cart can lead up to 10 schools, 10 short films and over 180 students in an elementary school district per school year.

Currently RadGeekery has only one cart and one Instructor in a single school district.

The cart is made of Professional filmmaking gear so students can perform all the necessary production jobs to make rad films.

Contents of the the current cart:

Camera: Blackmagic Pyxis 6k or better. [$3,000-$5,000)

Film Tripod: ($1100)

Lens: Sigma 24-70mm 2.4 ($1,600)

Rigging for camera including monitoring system for camera ($1000)

Behind the Scenes camera: Osmo 3 ($500)

Sound/boom: Rode Ntg5, Boom Pool and Headphones ($800)

Directors Monitor and Rigs: Shimbol Monitor ($700)

Gaffing: GVM Wireless Light kit (3-5 panel lights, Stands and sand bags) ($500-700)

Batteries: ($350-450)

The Cart itself: ($250-400)

Miscellaneous wires and cases: ($200)

Total estimated base cost of a cart: ($10,500- $12,000) + Upkeep and maintenance.

Fun Fact: No RadGeek has ever dropped anything expensive and that’s over 400 past students!
