What is
RadGeekery?
RadGeekery is an AWARD WINNING afterschool program that allows kids to explore the creative world of filmmaking, while having the unique opportunity to use professional film industry equipment and produce an original short film. With the guidance of an award winning filmmaker, students learn important skills for creating a film: lighting, audio, cinematography, acting, perspective, and much more. Students also have the chance to enter their film into an actual film festival! Students have an exciting and inspiring time as we work as a team to create a story everyone will remember!
Radgeekery News for 2025!!!
The school year of 2024-2025 was so RADICAL! We had 6 successful movies completed at 6 schools with over 100 students! These are the titles: “A Ghost’s Best Friend,” “The Disappearing,” “Game Over,” “Picture Perfect,” “Depression VS. Happiness,” and “Lights Out.”
In January, our Film “Locker Problems,” by the 2023-2024 Wasatch Elementary RadGeeks, was honored to win an award from the Utah International Film Festival for Best 18 and under film! Lucas and I were able to accept the award during the amazing awards ceremony! Here is a picture from the local event!
Thank you so much for the support from the SLC Community Education Foundation for supporting this program, allowing many students to make short films they will remember forever.
Thank you to the Administrations, Parents, Teachers, and students of the SLC school district for your support as well.
